BRAINERD Minnesota--David Allbritton's walk-off single capped off a come-from-behind 4-3 victory for the Lunkers (6-7) over the Mankato MoonDogs.
The two runs scored by Mankato in the top of seventh gave them a 3-0 lead. Brainerd answered with two in the bottom of the sevent, but had a chance for more until Alex Burgos struck out Dorain Williams and T.J. Berge with the bases loaded.
After getting out of a jam in the top of the eighth, the Lunkers had a great opportunity when Matt Hillsinger hit a two-out single. After stealing second and taking third on a wild pitch, Chadd Krist won out on a seven pitch at-bat, singling through the left side, tieing the game in his debut with the team.
For the second inning in a row, Mankato put their first two on with nobody out in the top of the ninth, but, yet again, they failed to score, opening the door for the Lunkers.
A chaotic bottom of the ninth led to the Lunkers having the bases loaded with only one out and T.J. Berge at the plate with a chance to win it. It would have been a storybook ending for Berge, who turned 21 on Monday, but he popped out in the infield. Picking up his teammate, however, was David Allbritton, whose infield single--the sixth for the six-foot-six catcher--won the ballgame as Stephen Wickens, who contributed three hits, scored the winning run, capping off his debut with the team in 2010.
Matt Hillsinger's seventh inning hit extended his hitting streak to six.
Getting a no-decision, Patrick Nathanson went six innings, striking out five, giving up only one run.
For the third game in a row, Jordan Steranka collected three hits.
The Lunkers have their first off day tomorrow, but resume play on Wednesday, capping off their eight game homestand against the Alexandria Beetles. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.2L
