Lunkers Add a Pair of Infielders

May 29, 2010

The Brainerd Lakes Area Lunkers of the Northwoods Collegiate League announced today that a pair of infielders have signed contracts to play with the Lunkers this summer. Joining the Lunkers' organization are Tommy Reyes of UC-Irvine and local product Ryan Abrahamson, of the University of Minnesota.

Abrahamson, who comes from Tartan High School in Minnesota, is a physical infielder with a very good arm, speed, and pop in his bat. His tools allow him to player either corner spot in both the infield and, if needed, the outfield. The 6'4", 190 lb. freshman has earned some playing time in his inaugural season, less than a year removed from being named Minnesota's 2009 Gatorade State Player of the Year.

Reyes plays everyday for UC-Irvine, a perennial national championship contender. A sophomore, Reyes is capable of playing anywhere on the field, not just his natural position of shortstop. In 2009 as a freshman, Reyes was fourth on the Anteaters with a .348 batting average.

"It's great adding guys from winning programs," team owner/general manager Joel Sutherland said. "We feel that the tools these guys bring to the table will certainly help add to the success of the team in the 2010 season."

The Lunkers Field Manager Ryan Levendoski and Sutherland will continue building the roster until play begins on June 2nd. The home opener will be on Thursday, June 3rd at Stewart C. Mills Field. Game time is at 7:05 pm. For more information call the Lunkers Baseball office at (218) 824-3474 or visit the website at www.lunkersbaseball.com
