The Brainerd Lakes Area Lunkers of the Northwoods Collegiate League announced today that a pair players from the University of California-Berkeley have signed contracts to play with the Lunkers this summer. The newest Lunkers are Chadd Krist and Jimmy Bosco.
Krist, a 5-foot-10 catcher from Petaluma, Calif., has established himself as one of the best hitters in the Pacific-10 conference. After hitting under .200 as a freshman, Krist is among the leaders in the conference with a .374 batting average. Krist leads his team in 2B (12), 3B (three), HR (six), and slugging percentage (.667). In addition to his offensive prowess, Krist is considered to be one of the best defensive catchers in the conference.
Bursting onto the scene in 2010 is Jimmy Bosco. The freshman is having no problems with Pacific-10 pitching, hitting .349 so far this season. The 5-foot-10 freshman from Granite Bay, Calif., Bosco is a line-drive hitting outfielder that is adept at hitting to all fields.
Field Manager Ryan Levendoski is very excited to add two players as talented as Chadd and Jimmy. "We are really excited to see what Chadd and Jimmy will do for us this summer. They are both very talented and are proving it with the seasons they are currently putting together."
Levendoski and owner Joel Sutherland will continue building the roster until play begins on June 2nd. The home opener will be on Thursday, June 3rd at Stewart C. Mills Field. Game time is at 7:05 pm.
