THUNDER BAY Ontario--The Lunkers got their bats going early and often as they completed the two game sweep against the Border Cats, winning the finale #-#.
After Tommy Reyes' single in the first gave the Lunkers and early one run lead, Aaron Sapp surrendered the lead in the bottom of the second, as the Border Cats tied it up a Garret Houts fielder's choice.
It was the only run Sapp would allow in his first start of the season after coming out of the bullpen, as he would go five innings, striking out a season high six batters, picking up his team-high fifth win of the season.
One of Thunder Bay's six All-Stars, Garret Yount, got the start and was roughed up by the Lunkers' bats. He gave up six runs--all earned--on seven hits in five innings.
Chadd Krist picked up the final hit surrendered by Yount in the fifth, a three-run home run to left field, his first of the season, giving the Lunkers a 5-1 lead. In his final two at-bats, Krist collected a triple and a single, finishing 3-for-5 on the evening.
David Allbritton, last night's offensive leader for the Lunkers, was the only Lunker not to collect at least one of the team's 15 hits, but Allbritton did record a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning.
Brandon Baumgartner went four innings in relief of Aaron Sapp for the Lunkers, picking up his first save of the season.
The Lunkers, playing their final game in Thunder Bay this season, will leave Canada undefeated, winning all five contests played across the border.
Duluth is next on the schedule for the Lunkers, as they return to the United States for two against the Huskies, taking them into the All-Star Break.
First pitch of tomorrow's game from Wade Stadium is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
